Introducing KL Meet- Secure Video Conferencing For All

In the past couple of months, there has been widespread awareness on the security issues posed by video conferencing apps such as Zoom & Google Meet. The Government of India has also launched a nationwide challenge for Indian talent to build and develop a secure, home-grown Zoom alternative. Considering the current COVID-19 situation and work-from-home model being practiced worldwide, we felt an even bigger need to build a secure solution that could host meetings & conferences. 

We believed we should have a secure, cost-effective and customizable solution for our Indian customer base. That is how KL Meet came to be.

At Knowledge Lens, we are inspired by the ‘Made in India, made for the world’ principle. Our products and solutions are built from our headquarters in Bangalore, but they are used by Fortune 500 companies, government agencies and small businesses across the globe. Due to the communication challenges we began facing after the COVID-19 lockdown, there was an urgent need for a new, secure video conferencing and online meeting solution. 

Scaling Up

As part of a project for the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), we had already built a video conferencing app with chat and mobile capabilities. Over the past month, our team of app developers have worked dedicatedly to scale this solution to meet the rising demand for a Zoom alternative. 

Dogfooding 101

As part of its internal beta test runs, we employed the dogfooding technique- all work meetings and calls switched to KL Meet overnight. Employees pitched suggestions & feedback that the development team have incorporated to build a more evolved version of the app. 

KL Meet- A Brief Overview

Basic features of the KL Meet app include Audio/Video Calls, Chat, Screen Sharing & Recording. The app also functions as a Personal Calendar/ Organizer with Calendar, Meetings and Contacts as handy features. It is available for Web, iOS & Android devices. Users can schedule meetings and invite participants within the app.

1.Security First: KL Meet is a completely in-house hosted solution for businesses of any size, without the worries of data security and privacy. The entire data resides within the enterprise boundary and this is one of our app’s unique features. There is no need for any external login and this can seamlessly integrate with the Enterprise Active Directory. 

Apart from this, meetings come with very secured communication options where the encryption can be customized for different meetings. This ensures that users don’t face data privacy and security issues that have become evident in solutions like Google Meet & Zoom. 

Additionally, there is no plugin to download like CISCO Webex or Zoom, so the end user need not worry about any such vulnerabilities.

2. Low-Cost Alternative to Zoom: We have a one-time license model, without the hassle of subscriptions. In fact, our price point is lower as compared to other video conferencing apps in the market. Enterprises have complete control of their video hosting solution which they can host on-premise or on their own extended cloud infrastructure. 

As the app is completely containerized, Enterprises can scale based on their demands and don’t have to invest on a large infrastructure.

3. An Ecosystem more than just a Platform: We anticipate that the reduced footfall due to COVID-19 will continue well throughout this year; in anticipation of this new normal, KL Meet is also equipped with the capability to locate kirana stores near you, so you can call or message them, place orders and pay via its Google Pay integration.
